Michigan park delivers epic burn after vandalism: Boardwalk will last ‘longer than your relationship’

Rangers at Michigan’s Tahquamenon Falls State Park didn’t hold back after finding some graffiti on the park’s new boardwalk.

The small message reading “Mike & Tanya 2023″ was found near the Lower Falls at the sprawling wilderness park in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

And while the mysterious Mike and Tanya seemed pleased with their handiwork, the DNR was not impressed.

“Dear Mike & Tanya,” the park’s Facebook post said. “Just because this new boardwalk will likely be around longer than your relationship doesn’t mean we all want to read about it. Sincerely, everyone trying to enjoy the beauty of the Lower Falls.”

The message ends with the hashtag #leavenotrace.

The brutal, but fair takedown was widely applauded in the comment section of the post with many expressing anger over Mike and Tanya’s lack of respect for public property.

Others joined in the fun with jokes of their own.

Tahquamenon Falls State Park encompasses nearly 50,000 acres and has more than 35 miles of trails with multiple overlooks to the Upper and Lower Falls.

A new 143-foot-long bridge and 350 feet of boardwalk opened near the Lower Falls in 2021.
